Soft Mount Taxidermy Artists AND Collectors!
Hey all!
Since the community has been so silent lately, ItsProbablyMars (https://www.deviantart.com/itsprobablymars) and I were talking. There aren't many sites to create a community on or share the love of taxidermy with other people on, but as we thought, we thought of the one site EVERYONE uses! Facebook!
Come join us at https://www.facebook.com/groups/169721780028417/ ! All enthusiasts, artists, and collectors welcome!
Feel free to chat, share photos, ask questions! Whatever you want, as long as it's taxidermy related!
Hope you all enjoy your weekend and hope to see you all soon!
As always.
Hello! I was wondering if the fox taxidermy community had any recommendations for resources about ranch fox genetics. I haven't been able to find many resources online about genotypes and how each morph is produced, so if you guys know of any good sites/studies or even books, let me know!
Holy SHIT I am sorry for completely missing this message.
Your biggest book is going to be "Fur Bearing Animals and their Color Genetics". There used to be a color morph list by a user on here ages ago, but she left and deactivated her account. I managed to save a copy of the morph list, though, and everything was directly pulled from that book.
As a warning, though, the book is STUPID amounts of expensive. I got mine for like, $80, I think, and that's the LOW end. I've seen this book sell for upwards of $200. It's a rare book.
There's also a soft mount taxidermy group on Facebook; feel free to ask there!
I was wondering if anyone could tell me what kind of coloured fox stole I just bought? I fell in love with the colour, and at first glance I thought it was an arctic fox, but once I looked at the photos I thought it might be a ranch fox. The person who sold it had it listed as a 'wild silver fox' which I'm sure can't be right because of the colour :s
